Introduction to Fluorescent Fibers
1. The fluorescent fiber can receive light incident in any direction, instead of only receiving light from a certain range of the end face into the fiber (that is, the so-called numerical aperture problem). After the fluorescent substance receives light of a certain wavelength (stimulated spectrum), it is stimulated to emit light energy. The excitation peak wavelength is different from the radiation peak wavelength, a phenomenon known as Stokes shift. For fluorescent molecules, the Stokes frequency shift is about 100~200 nm, but this value is affected by other dopants. After excitation disappears, the continuity of fluorescence emission depends on the lifetime of the excited state
2. This luminescence usually decays exponentially, and the time constant of decay is called fluorescence lifetime or fluorescence decay time. Polystyrene (PS) and PMMA doped with fluorescent substances are used as the core layer of the fiber, and the fluororesin as the cortex fluorescent fiber has a normal light transmission function. The biggest feature is that it absorbs light from the side and emits light from the end face. There are red, yellow, green, etc.
